“Watch your step!” Program

East Europe Foundation in cooperation with SES of Ukraine funded by DanChurchAid is launching a program aimed at raising awareness of citizens about mine danger. Within the program, we would like to minimize the number of accidents, deaths, and injuries caused by the improper handling of explosives.

According to the expert data, demining works are required for areas of at least 300 000 square meters  or almost half of Ukraine’s territory. This territory has not yet been checked by the mine engineers, and so is still dangerous for the citizens. People who have never worked with demining are not able to recognize dangerous explosive objects

Within the program, East Europe Foundation in cooperation with SES of Ukraine and other state authorities is planning to:

  • hold educational campaigns for Ukrainians, including for children and teenagers;
  • create an interactive safety classroom for schoolchildren and youth;
  • add new features to the mobile application “Demining of Ukraine”;
  • develop an online course for rescuers of SESU covering the handling of explosive objects on the Educational Online Platform Zrozumilo!
  • assist the representatives of local authorities, police, and foresters in learning to detect and handle explosives.

The program will last from June to December 2022.
