Visit of Board members

On December 5, the Foundation management along with the Board members, visited the Training Center of the State Emergency Service and the Gymnasium “Obolon”.

These institutions are among ones where the Foundation has been the curator since the beginning of a full-scale war.

“Cooperation with the State Emergency Service became our priority since the beginning of the full-scale war. Together we educate people on the things they need nowadays: mine safety, CBRN threats; we arrange protective constructions and air raid shelters in schools, train volunteers, conduct awareness campaigns that help save the lives of Ukrainians,” said Viktor Liakh, the President of East European Foundation.

The training center was renovated within the framework of the Spilnodiia Program, executed by East Europe Foundation and financed by the EU. The Center classrooms were updated and equipped with the necessary appliances. It was here that more than 250 volunteer firefighters successfully completed their training and received the related certificates. By the way, some trainees went to the Kherson region to help fight the consequences of the Kakhovskaya HPP explosion at once.

The gymnasium shelter was repaired (within the Safe School Program). A ventilation system and protected electrical networks were installed there. Also, WI-FI was installed, toilets were furnished there, as well as a comfortable leisure space.

During the visit, the participants discussed the partnership outcomes. They agreed on further cooperation, new projects, and campaign development to contribute to our future Victory and rebuilding a strong Ukraine.

Thus, according to the State Emergency Service representatives, there is a current need for modern autonomous equipment to help in dismantling the destroyed floors of buildings. That is, which could be operated regardless of height or distance.

East Europe Foundation is one of the few funds in Ukraine with an independent Board of Directors (Board), which includes prominent representatives of local and foreign businesses and social and political life.

The Board monitors all the aspects of the Foundation’s activities, provides recommendations for the strategic, institutional, and routine development of our organization, makes efforts to advocate crucial issues at the highest political level, and also raises funds.

In addition to the Board of Directors, we have an Advisory Board in the Foundation.
