Competition for the position of a Lawyer

East Europe Foundation announces a competition for a Lawyer to work on methodological recommendations for the publication of open data.

Start of work: June 2024.

Term of involvement: 6 months 

Employment: part-time                                    

Work format: remote 

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Conducting a legal audit of methodological recommendations for the publication of open data to assess and ensure compliance with applicable legislation and identify gaps or inconsistencies in the materials developed.
  • Finalizing guidelines and amending the materials developed after legal audit to ensure that all documents comply with legal norms and requirements.
  • Collecting and systematizing opinions, observations, and comments from experts, including representatives of the Expert Council under the representative of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, and making the necessary changes based on the proposals received.
  • Coordination of submission of completed and revised methodological recommendations for approval to the Office of the Representative of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights. 
  • Preparation of a report summarizing the audit findings, suggestions, and corrections.
  • Presentation of the revised guidelines for open data publishing and development protection to the Expert Council under the representative of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights and other stakeholders.

Desired skills and work experience:

  • A law degree.
  • Proven experience in performing similar or related tasks, conducting analytical research for at least 3 years.
  • In-depth knowledge of open data and legislation on access to public information. 
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Work experience with international technical assistance projects will be an advantage.
