Since the beginning of the war, East Europe Foundation started providing assistance to people who have been forcibly displaced, as well as those remaining in besieged cities and suffering from the hostilities.
For nearly three months, we have supported internally displaced persons, people from cities and villages that are still under siege by enemy troops. As well as providing assistance to residents of the communities which were just liberated from occupation. EEF was one of the first NGOs that reached the newly-liberated cities of Kyiv and Chernihiv oblasts.
Thanks to the funds, intensified fundraising campaign, humanitarian cargo, which we receive from organisations and private individuals, we have been able to take care of 30 shelters for internally displaced persons in nine oblasts of Ukraine. Providing mini grants to public organizations has made the purchase of small and large household appliances for shelters, arranging beds, including for people with disabilities, possible. Together we have succeeded in ensuring comfortable conditions for at least 4 946 internally displaced people, including 1336 children.
For this time a total of 217 tons of humanitarian aid has been delivered to 15 oblasts of Ukraine. Hospitals, shelters, dormitories, and urban infrastructure companies are supported with food, clothing, household chemicals, and personal hygiene products for adults and children.
Institutions and individuals from different countries have eagerly responded to the Shelter Project initiative. Funding has been provided by the European Union, Eurasia Foundation, Europe Foundation Georgia, CNFA Europe, The Center for Liberal Modernity (LibMod), The King Alfred School Society, Two Degrees ApS, Brücke der Hoffnung, Stiching Derdengelden, the retailer Eldorado, and private individuals. The University of Murcia (Spain), Polish partners, retail chains in Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Ukraine, Lviv Regulatory Hub and other organisations provided humanitarian cargo. Also, we are grateful to people and institutions that have supported the fundraising campaign and helped disseminate information about the project.
Thus, we have managed to help almost 65 000 Ukrainians. We invite you to familiarize yourself with the interim report featuring our efforts for 2,5 months of war and results we have achieved aimed at assisting Ukrainians in these difficult times.
