Since February 24, 2022, civil society organizations have tirelessly worked to mitigate the consequences of the full-scale war in Ukraine. During this period, these organizations have devoted all their efforts and resources to aiding Ukrainian society. Some have relocated to other regions, while others have changed not only their locations but also the focus of their work.
Developing and strengthening organizational capacities has become a crucial component for these organizations to adapt to challenges and devise new models for solving problems. The Institutional Support Program for partner organizations provided an opportunity for 11 CSOs to enhance their management and operational capacities, strengthen communications, gain project management skills, and establish various internal processes. This program was carried out in 2023–2024 as part of the Phoenix Project, implemented by East Europe Foundation with the support of the European Union.
Here are four organizations from different parts of Ukraine that are engaged in diverse projects, of varying sizes, yet all dedicated to supporting those in need. They offer support to military families, communities in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions, and new residents in the Vinnytsia region. Read on to learn how these organizations operate in these areas and why support for those who support others is so vital.
