East Europe Foundation presented an online course on civil defense fundamentals for volunteers.

It provides theoretical knowledge to citizens who join with other volunteers in civil defense units to assist with emergencies.

In the current set of circumstances, this course will be useful for all citizens.

Course participants learn about the following:

• Security measures and rules of conduct for civil defense unit volunteers during Russia’s armed aggression;
• Safety rules during emergency rescue operations;
• Performance by voluntary civil defense units during Russia’s armed aggression;
• Using personal protective equipment;
• Administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation; and,
• Administering paramedical care for injuries.

Training course participants who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of completion along with 0.2 credits from the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System, or ECTS.

The online course was developed by the Institute of Public Administration and Research on Civil Defense within the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the framework of the Spilnodiia Program which is implemented by East Europe Foundation in partnership with the Ukrainian Independent Center for Political Research and the Together Against Corruption nongovernmental organization with financial support from the European Union.
