New Сourse on Wartime Information Operations

A free course has been released by East Europe Foundation on the Zrozumilo! Online Educational Platform with the support of ERIM and the European Union. The course helps to develop skills of critical perception of information, build resistance to propaganda, and recognize manipulations.

The course is composed of thirteen units designed by Oksana Moroz, founder of the infohygiene initiative How Not to Become a Pod Person. The course modules help you learn what techniques Russians use to manipulate social and traditional media, and how they misuse the applications that are most popular with the Ukrainians: Facebook, YouTube, and Telegram. You will also find out about news, sources of (un)reliable information, foreign media, and more.

The Russian propaganda is using all means possible in order to retell their story of this war events: they discredit the Ukrainian military and political leadership, sow discord among Ukrainians, throw in fake news and, unfortunately, often successfully fill the information space in our country and beyond with disinformation and manipulation,”  – said Victor Liakh, President of East Europe Foundation. “We must be able to recognize these influences and try to counter them”.

Upon successful completion of this online course, participants will obtain 0.2 ECTS credits / 6 academic hours.

It is important to monitor and analyze the tools used by Russian propaganda in order to change our thinking and behavior, and learn to minimize their impact on our own lives and the lives of our loved ones,”  – said Oksana Moroz, course expert. “Since May 2022, Russia has changed its tactics in our information space.
