Mriia Post-Education

2,000 Ukrainian schools will connect to the Mriia educational ecosystem this year. Among the updates are gamification, bonuses for high scores, a search for extracurricular activities near home, and optimization of teachers’ work using artificial intelligence.

This was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky at the first Mriia Post-Education EdTech event by the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Education and Science.

«Last year, we launched a pilot version of a new application for Ukrainian schools – Mriia. This is a unique solution, and there are few like it in the world. Ukraine is one of the leaders in such technological innovations. We have integrated virtually all aspects of school education into one convenient digital system: learning materials, grade books, assessments, homework, and information for parents. Mriia simplifies the learning process in schools and does so systematically. It enables children in all parts of our large country – from frontline communities to every city, every village, every school – to have equally full access to education», said Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine.

The Mriia ecosystem is effective — this was confirmed by students, parents, and teachers during beta testing in six regions of Ukraine: in frontline cities and mountain villages, in schools with distance learning and those where learning takes place in shelters.

«Mriia is an educational game-changer. For parents and children, it is a convenient app that simplifies the learning process. For teachers, it is a portal and an app that removes bureaucracy and streamlines interaction with students to just one click. And for the state, Mriia is high-quality data about the education system. Thanks to Mriia, we will be able to effectively transform the education system, recover from learning losses, and understand in real time which solutions are working. All of this will allow us to fulfill our mission — to build an education system capable of shaping professional and happy individuals for a new innovative economy. To nurture citizens who can protect themselves and their homes from any threats», noted Mykhailo Fedorov, Vice Prime Minister for Innovations, Development of Education, Science and Technology, Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.

What’s new in Mriia?

  • teachers will generate tests in a few clicks thanks to AI, receive completed homework from children, create cross-class groups, and more;
  • for academic achievements children will receive «mriiky» — an internal currency that can be exchanged for cinema tickets, master classes, VR quests, etc.;
  • one can search for extracurricular activities of interest near home;
  • teacher performance results are accessible in a few clicks without navigating through registers.

«Our goal was not to digitize paper documentation, but to rethink the very approach to managing the educational process — to make it more efficient, flexible, and modern. Mriia is a tool that transforms education from within and helps every participant in the process — from student to principal — focus on the main thing: the quality of knowledge and the development of the child» said Oksen Lisovyi, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine.

In Mriia, teachers manage planning, schedules, and registers, and can even put temporary «pencil» grades. There are functions to attach notes and files to lessons, share comments, and communicate with students and parents in secure chats.

Children have a Mriia ID, schedule, homework, a personalized content library, and progress dynamics on their smartphones, while parents see their child’s key achievements in one application.

In addition, the Mriia ecosystem will soon include kindergartens.

Who and how can connect to Mriia?

Every school in the country can join the ecosystem. Mriia will always be free and voluntary. Each institution independently decides whether to connect — and can already apply via the link: https://mriia.gov.ua/app.

Currently, 150 schools are connected to Mriia, and the Mriia team is processing the next 1400 applications from educational institutions.

«Mriia is a vivid example of how the joint efforts of the authorities, international partners, educators, and civil society can bring real and tangible results. Thanks to the support of the Swiss Government and fruitful cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Mriia is already changing the lives of thousands of Ukrainian students, teachers, and parents today», said Victor Liakh, East Europe Foundation President.

«The digital transformation of Ukraine, even in the conditions of a full-scale war, is impressive and inspiring. Switzerland is proud to support Mriia and the overall development of digital education in Ukraine — this is an example of a powerful and effective international partnership», said Jacques Gerber, Delegate of the Swiss Federal Council for Ukraine.

Mriia is an initiative of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, implemented by the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Education and Science together with the Swiss-Ukrainian EGAP Program, implemented by East Europe Foundation.
