“Transparency and accountability are the cornerstones of the charity culture we uphold at the Foundation”, says Vira Nedzvedska, Vice President for Strategic Partnerships at East Europe Foundation.
“Recently, following an assessment by the Association of Charities of Ukraine, the Foundation was honored to be included in the “Charity Compass of Ukraine” National Rating. As a result, our organization received 118 points, translating into the highest rating of five “stars of trust”.
This recognition followed a rigorous certification process. Non-profit organizations, including our Foundation, voluntarily participated in this special certification. The Association’s experts who developed the rating methodology took inspiration from the best practices of international organizations, particularly the “Charity Navigator” American charity foundation. The methodology was adapted to the Ukrainian context, evaluating participants on 18 indicators — 4 financial and 14 transparency.
“Our placement in the National Ranking confirms that our team is on the right track. We use our resources efficiently, adhere to the principles of integrity, operate publicly, and our efforts contribute to positive changes in Ukraine”, Vira adds.
As a reminder, the “Charity Compass of Ukraine” National Rating was launched by the Association of Charities in August 2022. Since then, 34 organizations have been recognized. The initiative aims to establish an open system of public evaluation of non-profit organizations, serving as a benchmark of transparency for potential donors and partners.
