From Denmark with Care

For over a year since we launched our Shelter Program, we provided refuge to thousands of internally displaced persons and assisted thousands of Ukrainians in the de-occupied territories. We accomplished all that mainly thanks to our reliable friends, partners and, of course, donors. One of them was the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Ukraine.

Since the first days of the full-scale invasion, the Embassy responded to the Foundation’s request to support our initiative financially. Thanks to excellent collaboration with the donor, the Foundation was able to provide grants to 20 nongovernmental organizations in different oblasts of Ukraine: Lviv, Cherkasy, Ivano-Frankivsk, Mykolaiv, Dnipro, Vinnytsia, Odesa, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya, Kherson, Chernihiv oblasts and the city of Kyiv.

Local public organizations know best what their communities and people need. Therefore, we created a large partner network across Ukraine to make sure our assistance comes where it is most needed.

To date, due to generous support provided by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Ukraine, we managed to equip 17 shelters for people fleeing hostilities. We distributed more than 10,000 food packages and core relief item kits to those in need. In total, more than 20,000 Ukrainians received assistance.

The Shelter Program focused not only on humanitarian assistance, but also on the mental health of our aid recipients. Thanks to our donor, we provided psychological counseling to almost 1,400 persons through individual and group sessions. In addition to it, 503 psychological consultations were provided by telephone. We provided supervision to 58 mental health professionals and conducted training sessions for more than 1,600 people who work with the war victims on a daily basis.

We do not stop there and continue our work. Ahead are new grants, partnerships and even more assistance under the Program Together We Shelter. Let’s not forget that the war continues. Every day, the number of people heavily affected by the fighting is only increasing.

So, let’s work, help and win together!
