E-Queue for Free Endoprosthesis

To register for the electronic queue, one must contact a medical institution that provides free endoprosthesis services. The institution registers the patient based on an application and a doctor’s conclusion.

The list of medical institutions providing free joint endoprosthesis services under contract with the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU) has been approved by the Ministry of Health. Currently, there are 97 such hospitals across all oblasts of the country. Endoprostheses are distributed to these facilities.

A single patient can be entered into only one queue at any of the medical institutions participating in this programme. The queue is formed transparently – based on medical indications, degree of urgency, and date of application.

“The system ensures transparency of operations. Thanks to it, the workload on healthcare institutions can be accounted for, and control over the targeted use of purchased endoprostheses for free operations for patients in the queue can be ensured,” notes Mariia Karchevych, Deputy Minister of Health for Digital Development.

After the operation, the patient’s status changes, ensuring full transparency and preventing external interference or manipulation of the queue.

“The electronic queue for endoprosthesis is already helping people receive necessary medical care faster and without unnecessary bureaucracy. This is an example of how digital tools can literally change people’s lives, making complex operations accessible to everyone who needs them, especially in the most vulnerable life circumstances,” emphasises Victor Liakh, President of East Europe Foundation.

The electronic queue has been implemented on the Diia.Engine platform in partnership with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine with the support of the Swiss-Ukrainian EGAP Program implemented by East Europe Foundation.
