The digital service allows couples to get married directly from a smartphone — with no queues, trips, or paperwork, requiring just a few clicks in the Diia application.

During this time, Ukrainians have made almost 3 million proposals, submitted over 44 thousand marriage applications, and 17 thousand couples have already officially married online.

In October 2025, the Digital Civil Registration Office was opened in Lviv. Now, thanks to the two offices — Lviv and Kyiv — up to 200 couples can get married daily. The plan is to open even more digital offices so that Ukrainians can marry in Diia from anywhere in the country or the world.

The innovativeness of Marriage Online was recognized by the international TIME magazine: the service was included in the list of the 200 Best Inventions of 2024 in the Apps & Software category. This ranking annually recognizes groundbreaking solutions that change people’s lives globally.

The service was developed by the Ministry of Justice together with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, with the support of the Swiss-Ukrainian EGAP Program, implemented by East Europe Foundation.
