This project aims to promote effective use of energy resources in the oblast by building the capacities of local government and business to develop, evaluate, and implement community-driven energy efficiency strategies and projects, as well as renewable energy sources. The project also aims to launch modern energy management elements and promote attraction of financial resources to implement energy saving projects.
An open competition for local cities with the population of 10 000-100 000 citizens was held. As a result, the two pilot cities, Zhovkva and Kamianka-Buzka received the financing of UAH 750 000 each.
Energy audit was conducted for all state-owned buildings (kindergartens, hospitals, community centers) and heating networks of the cities of Zhovkva and Sambir. The energy auditors provided comprehensive recommendations for a total of 25 social infrastructure objects in the city of Zhovkva and 21 objects in Kamianka-Buzka.
• based on energy audits results, the project helped develop the plans for the modernization of energy infrastructure in the cities;
• the project held trainings as well as provided assistance in attracting financial resources to implement energy efficiency projects.
The project also held a competition among the industries. The Healthcare Department of Lviv Oblast State Administration won a competition for the best oblast program and received UAH 400 000 to launch energy efficiency projects. Nine oblast healthcare facilities underwent energy audit, and the Oblast Department received the results, expert conclusions and recommendations regarding the necessary measures. A new project’s partner, E&Y Company, will provide expert consultations regarding selection of the most sustainable objects.
