On July 29 around 20 HR specialists and managers responsible for recruitment participated in a training Knowledge Seminar “Peculiarities of Employment of People with Disabilities” organized by American Chamber of Commerce for its members and delivered by the East Europe Foundation in cooperation with the Association of IT specialists with Disabilities. The seminar is a part of the EEF Everyone Has a Right to Work Project funded by World Jewish Relief.
According to the Law of Ukraine "On the principles of social security of people with disabilities in Ukraine" the enterprises and organizations of all forms of ownership shall create one working place for a person with a disability if a company employs from eight to 25 people, or 4% of the average number of full-time employees, if a company employs more than 25 persons. If a company doesn’t fill the quote, it shall pay fine in the amount of half or full average annual salary for each job intended for employment of people with disabilities. Whereas, employing people with disabilities, an employer receives responsible workers who appreciate their work, benefits for payment of social insurance fees and creates image of socially responsible enterprise or organization.
The Seminar covered the following issues:
1. Search of specialists with disabilities.
2. Norms of the law regarding the employment of people with disabilities.
3. Adaptation at a workplace.
4. Ethics of communication with representatives of different disability nosologies.
5. Adaptation of persons with disabilities in the team, etc.
Seminar is a part of a project "Everyone has the right to work: Partnership to improve employment opportunities for people with disabilities". Within the framework of the project distance courses in IT disciplines have been developed such as: computer literacy, HTML, CSS, Python, PHP, SQLite, Java SE. A pilot group of 90 people with disabilities from all over Ukraine has already started training.
